October Updates
We approach the winter quarter by confirming the appointment of Adam Divall who has joined our London team. Adam previously worked at TKE and we look forward to Adam's contribution to the team effort.
There seems to be a positive stream of new work confirming a welcome pick-up in the market's activity both locally and Internationally - long may that continue.
Tom Bates will retire in December - Tom has been with D+B for 13 years - having previously working for Express and Kone. We thank Tom for his efforts and wish him well for his retirement!
We held our September conference in Warrington and enjoyed contributions from Stuart Rose of FHPess discussing Dilapidations and related issues, David Wright discussing MF1 contracts and implications in relation its application and finally thanks to Gareth Bendlow and Simon Thompson from HSBIL for their insights relating to Statutory Inspections and processes.

The Lift industry
2013 is going to be a vintage year for Vertical Transport
innovation.
Otis announce last month that they are prepared to employ
‘triple-deck’ lifts (three connected cars travelling together). This, along
with their Compass control system enhancements, is game changing.
Kone announced this week that they are employing hybrid /
carbon fibre ‘ropes’. This reduces the general mass in the suspension system
enabling the car travel distance to be more than doubled. Therefore
uninterrupted travel for 1000 metres. Pressurised cars will be required…..more
on this in due course.
Schindler will respond in the autumn with their latest
offering so there will be lots to think about for the future.
The idea of vertical villages is certainly an increasingly
viable proposition.

June Update!
We are pleased to announce the Vijith Nambiar has joined us to run our Dubai office VijithNambiar@dunbarboardman.com
Vijith is a seasoned Façade Access expert and key to developing our VT expertise to a wider client base. D+B have worked on projects in the Gulf for decades and we look forward to this continuity taken to a new level.
Brian didn’t think that the prospect of UK weather or commuting attractive so he remains in Bahrain pursuing a new career…we wish him well!
Finally, we are looking forward to expand on our London team over the summer!

D & B Get Behind the INSPIRE! Campaign
Peter Boardman has become an ambassador for the INSPIRE! campaign to help save St. Brides Church.
The aim of the campaign is to help raise circa £200,000 towards restoration of this iconic City of London Landmark. The building, just off Fleet Street, managed to survive the Blitz and has been standing for over 300 years, however is now in serious need of restoration.
This is a cause that Dunbar and Boardman feel strongly about, mainly because this is a Sir Christopher WREN building; and we’ve recently been tweeting our support to @stbrideschurch
